VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Applications are invited from suitably qualified Gambians to fill the following vacant position available at the Directorate of Transport, Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure, MDI Road, Kanifing. JOB TITLE: Road Safety Officer, Grade 8 Number of Vacancies: (2 position s ) QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE Direct Entry: Must have Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Transport Management, Urban planning, Public Policy, Geography, Development Studies, Public Administration with at least 1 year of relevant work experience in the transport sector, road safety implementation, or a related field. Duties and Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Senior Road Safety Officer, the Road Safety Officer will: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement road safety policies and strategies aimed at reducing accidents, injuries, and fatalities on the roads. Collect, analyze, and interpret road safety data. Use this information to inform decision making and the development of targeted interventions. Develop and deliver road safety education programs and campaigns to raise awareness and promote safe road behaviors among drivers, pedestrians, and other road users. This may involve organizing workshops, seminars, and road safety events. Work closely with law enforcement agencies, local authorities, transport operators, and other stakeholders to coordinate road safety efforts, share information, and implement joint initiatives. Undertake surveys, research studies and evaluations to assess the effectiveness of road safety interventions and identify areas for improvement. Use evidence-based findings to refine road safety strategies and initiatives. Providing advice and guidance on road safety matters to the Permanent Secretary, Director of Transport and other relevant stakeholders Establish and maintain effective partnerships with government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, community groups, and other stakeholders involved in road safety to leverage their expertise, share knowledge, and support collaborative projects. Contribute to the development and review of road safety policies and regulations. Monitor the effectiveness of road safety programs and initiatives. Evaluate the impact of interventions and recommend adjustments for continuous improvement. SALARY The salary attached to the position is Grade 8, of the Government Integrated New Pay Scale, i.e. D 101,892.00 ( One hundred and one thousand, eight hundred and ninety-two dalasi) per annum.
