VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Applications are invited from suitably qualified Gambians to fill the following vacant position available at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, Tenengfara Business Complex, Kanifing Municipality. The Principal Cyber security officer is responsible for protecting digital infrastructures, networks and systems against cyber-attacks and provide technical support and advice to the Director of Cybersecurity and the Ministry. JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL CYBERSECURITY OFFICER, GRADE 10 Number of Vacancies: (1 position) QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE: Direct Entry Minimum of master’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT Security, Information Security and/or related field, plus. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working on Cybersecurity in the field KEY DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES AND ROLES Support the development, implementation and coordination of the national Cybersecurity initiatives, in close collaboration with relevant Stakeholders. Collaborate with the Director of Cybersecurity to put in place governance mechanism and implementation of the national Cybersecurity Strategy. Work with GM-CSIRT for national cyber threat intelligence including Cybercrime activities as well as with other Law Enforcement bodies such as National Security agencies and the Military. Participate in the national Cybersecurity Committee discussions to jointly coordinate the implementation of the National Cybersecurity Strategy. Enhance International Cooperation on Cyber law and in response to cyber threats. Support and participate with GMCSIRT in international research projects and the exchange of experts in Cybersecurity to enhance capabilities, among others. Demonstrate strong ability to lead live training courses to other staff Support in the development and implementation of cybersecurity policies, strategies, legal and regulatory framework. Review cybersecurity proposal Identification of cybersecurity training needs and execute on-the-job training for cybersecurity officers in Ministry and within government Management of existing Cybersecurity Systems including both hardware and software maintenance Management of all matters related to cybersecurity quality assurance Management of all matters related to system security including data backups, password Enforcement, anti-malware applications, firewalls, and other such elements as may be required in accordance with professional cybersecurity guidelines and standards. Representing his/her Ministry in matters relating to Cybersecurity Provide technical support and advice and participate in the implementation of cybersecurity policies, strategies, and legal frameworks Coordinate and manage cybersecurity projects and programs Ensure that Cybersecurity Officers are trained and up to date with latest cybersecurity trends Work closely with the Director of Cybersecurity on all Cybersecurity activities. Knowledge/Skills/Competence: Ability to effectively use PowerPoint presentations to convey clear agile direction Competence to train new staff on new tools and methodologies to support network and system security procedures Expert experience with Intrusion Detection Systems required Expert experience with firewalls required Expert understanding of commonly used security protocols and services is required Strong understanding of Linux, Virtualization and Networking Concept Familiarity with industry security standards and current international best practices on data privacy regulations Solid knowledge on Cybersecurity Programs/project management Proven skills on Network and Web Penetration Testing Network, Web, and Data Security Skills on Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems and Antiviruses Technical knowhow on Digital Forensic and Cloud Security Knowledge on Computer Viruses and Network Defense Ability on Database and Data Security Knowledge on Data Encryption and Decryption Research, Analytic and Problem Solving SALARY The salary attached to the pos…
