Focussing its work on children without parental care and children in families in difficult circumstances, the organisation has a wide range of programmes, which include: Children’s Villages, Youth Facilities, Family Strengthening Programmes, Kindergartens, Schools, a Mother and Child Clinic, Vocational Training Centres, Youth Empowerment projects, a Community Strengthening Through Green Economy and Education Project, a Monetising Waste Project and a Gender Equality Project SOS Children’s Villages in The Gambia is looking for a suitably qualified candidate for the position of a Human Resources Assistant at the National Office, Bakoteh. Position summary: The Human Resources Assistant’s main responsibility is focused on supporting the HR Manager to accomplish HR related tasks using effective human resource policies, procedures and systems. The post holder will respond to internal and external HR-related inquiries, maintain personnel records, support the recruitment and hiring process, and provide clerical and administrative support to the HR Manager. The Human Resources Assistant reports to the Human Resources Manager. General aim of the position To respond to internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests and provide assistance. To maintain records of personnel-related data (payroll, personal information, leaves, turnover rates, etc.) in both paper and the database and ensure all employment information requirements are met. To liaise with other departments or functions (payroll, benefits etc.). To support the recruitment/hiring process by sourcing candidates, performing background checks, assisting in shortlisting, issuing employment contracts, ID cards, etc. To assist supervisors in performance management procedures. To schedule meetings, HR events, etc. and maintain the HR team’s agenda. To coordinate training sessions and seminars. To coordinate communication with candidates and schedule interviews. To assist in conducting orientations, onboarding and update records of new hires. To produce and submit reports on general HR activity. To assist in ad-hoc HR projects, like collection of employee feedback. To assist with the day-to-day operations of the HR functions and duties. To provide clerical and administrative support to the HR Manager. To compile and update employee records (hard and soft copies). To process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, etc.). To assist in payroll preparation by providing relevant data (absences, bonus, leave, etc.). To properly handle complaints and grievance procedures. To support other functions as assigned by the supervisor and National Director. Qualifications/Competencies required: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in HR, Business Administration or other relevant subject area. Minimum 3 years’ proven experience in a relevant HR/Admin position. General knowledge of Human Resources processes and best practices. Basic knowledge of Labour Laws. Adequate management and office administration concept. Excellent command of the English language. Must be able to communicate clearly, both oral and written and must have strong interpersonal skills. Strong time-management skills and ability to organize, prioritise and coordinate multiple tasks at a time. Timely execution of duties and willingness to work under pressure.
