Accounting / Auditing - Administrative - Business development - Communication & Public Relations - IT / Engineering - Monitoring and Evaluation - Operations - Other - Record Keeping and Reporting Job Overview Reports to: Director of Finance and Administration Probation: 6 months Salary: Competitive Application Deadline: Friday, October 2 nd, 2026, at 12 noon About the Students Revolving Loan Scheme (SRLS) The Students Revolving Loan Scheme is a newly established national financing mechanism created under the Student Loan Act to expand equitable access to higher and TVET education in The Gambia. The Scheme operates as a sustainable revolving fund that supports current students and reinvests repayments to benefit future students. Role Description The Finance Assistant will support the day-to-day accounting and financial activities of the Scheme, ensuring accurate financial records, timely processing of transactions, effective financial controls and compliance with the Scheme’s policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities The Finance Assistant shall: Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records, ledgers, and financial schedules. Record receipts, payments, journals and other transactions in the accounting system. Prepare payment vouchers and ensure that payments have appropriate supporting documentation. Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations. Maintain records of receivables, payables, commitments, staff advances. Record and reconcile funds received from Government of The Gambia and other partners. Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and assist with budget performance reporting. Maintain financial records for the Scheme, grants and funding windows. Support payroll processing, statutory deductions and contributions. Support the maintenance and reconciliation of the Fixed Asset Register. Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports. Assist in maintaining the digital Loan Management System and financial systems integration. Perform other finance related duties assigned. Qualifications and Experience The successful candidate should have: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/ or Finance Part-professional certification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) would be an advantage. Minimum of at least three (3) years of progressive experience in accounting and finance. Good knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, budgeting and financial controls. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks and other accounting/financial management software.
